About me

A little bit about me

Well, as you can see I like painting! Hope you enjoyed the gallery containing images which were inspired by the countryside and seascapes I know and love. I’m edging towards abstract work but for now it seems happy to be mostly semi abstract! Since retiring I have been able to devote more time to my own artwork and have exhibited in Northumberland, Yorkshire and Derbyshire. People are even buying them which is a great thrill!

The serious bit

I’ve spent my whole lifetime in art education. I spent many years as Head of Art in a 13-18 High School. Following an M.Phil in Fine Art and a Certificate in Art Therapy, I worked with Primary teachers helping them understand what creativity, emotional intelligence and art making with young children are all about and what this means for classroom practice.

In that time I produced an art resource for Primary Teachers that might be of interest to the primary teachers amongst you. It’s called ‘Splash Primary Art’.  If you would like to produce wonderful art work with young children then this is for you .........

I do believe creativity in all forms is at the heart of all our futures and in the well-being of the individual. For me, artistic creativity is a powerful way we can help children of all ages discover their expressive voice and unleash their confidence and potential.

Felton Art Group

You might also like seeing more of the art made by the group I run in Felton. They are a lovely group of people who meet every week to make art for a couple of hours and chat about their ideas. We are mostly retired some as old as 85!
